“AMES TVEIR” NOMINATED FOR THE GERMAN DESIGN AWARD 2011
What distinguishes the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany from other competitions is that it offers the business community a platform for communicating the long-term success of designs and brands. Its unique feature is that participation in this competition is possible only for design items that have already won an award elsewhere. This ensures that only those industrial products and such achievements in the field of communication design will be honoured as have already proved their design excellence in the market place.
AMES TVEIR´S NEW WOODEN BASE
Ames is glad to introduce the new wooden base for “Tveir” chair.
The new Tveir´s wooden base consists of 19-times glued beech laminated wood. The individual veneer layers come from local sustainably managed forests of the north Rhine Westphalia, Hessen and Lower Saxony.
Beech wood veneers are able to withstand high tensile loads. The high mechanical properties of the beech permit economical profiles with attractive Design and high solidity at the same time. The individual layers are injected in special presses and pressed up to 350 t. The individual layers are glued with urea resin glue according to DIN 68705. The gluing process is with low-formaldehyde content and corresponds to the emission class E 1. The treatment of the cross-beams is made by modern 5-axis CNC machine centers. The lacquer finish takes place with environmentally friendly hydraulic lacquer (water lacquer) systems.
The wooden frame gives “tveir” a completely new, charming look which makes this chair particularly suitable also for domestic purposes.

AMES TVEIR HAS A NEW “SKIN”
At this year´s IMM COLOGNE we presented for the first time Tveir with a new “skin”: a fine leather cover affixed on the inner side of the shell that follows perfectly the curves of the structure and leaves yet the wood veneer clearly visible on the external side. Tveir can be fully or partially covered in different colours and in different ways: a leather cover for both the 3D shell and the backrest, a partial cover for the seat and the back or just for the seat or just for the backrest. The seat can also be upholstered on request. Tveir is a chair that can be created and restyled according to your taste. Personalize your chair, create your own style!
einn table
Ames introduced at IMM COLOGNE 2010 and at FUORISALONE MILANO 2010 also the new „einn table“, available in two size variations - as a standing table and a cafeteria table. The design was inspired by a wooden cable roll converted into a table on which the designer gladly ate chocolate cake as a little girl. The styling deliberately leaves the chair´s lines and is understood to be an independent, modern object for the indoor and outdoor area. The four-part tables are available in various wooden décors.
