Þeir fiska sem róa.
For me, the collaboration with Ana Maria Calderón was a motivating experience that inspired both me and my work, and strongly challenged my creative abilities. The fusion of two totally different cultures in one piece, without losing touch with my own artistic signature, was the greatest challenge of all. The sparse landscape of iceland, with snow-covered mountains, was my inspiration for the clarity of this design. The sunny vitality of Columbia – which I felt in every encounter with Ana Maria Calderón – complemented the design, and lent its lines their essential spirit of lightheartedness.

Erla Sólveig Oskarsdóttir
was born in Iceland but got her degree as a industrial designer from the Danish Design School of Copenhagen in 1993 and then she moved to Reykjavik where she started to work as an independent designer.
Her design style may be described as functional simplicity. She likes organic forms and she thinks it is important that her designs are interesting to look at from every angle. She is constantly inspired by her own work. Each new design leads to the next idea, like a never-ending story.
